A series of frontal systems is set to impact Oregon and Washington this week, beginning with the first system approaching Sunday evening. The National Weather Service (NWS) said current satellite imagery earlier on Sunday showed the front offshore near 130°W, with mostly clear skies inland and some marine cloud cover along the Oregon coast. Tonight is the big shift, however.
Southerly winds will strengthen overnight, with gusts reaching 25–35 mph along the coast. Rain is expected to arrive between 2–5 AM Monday, spreading inland by late morning. The system will weaken as it moves ashore, with rainfall tapering off by late afternoon. Coastal areas could see up to 0.75 inches of rain, while inland totals will range from 0.1 to 0.25 inches.

“The next frontal system won't be far behind,” the NWS said. “There will be a brief break in rain for most areas Tuesday morning before the next, stronger frontal system moves into the region midday Tuesday through early Wednesday. “

Along the Oregon and Washington coast there are numerous offshore gale and marine warnings.
A stronger front follows Tuesday afternoon, bringing heavier rain and gustier winds. Coastal gusts may reach 45 mph, with isolated peaks near 50 mph. Inland areas could see gusts up to 30 mph. Thunderstorm chances increase Wednesday and Thursday along the beaches, with potential for heavy rain, lightning, and brief wind surges. Predictions are much less certain what happens next Saturday, the NWS said.
Forecasts along the Washington coast are very similar.
The forecast for the southern Oregon coast is much the same, with chances for lightning, winds and heavy rains on and off throughout the week.

“Winds over southwest Oregon on Tuesday look to be just a touch weaker than on Monday,” the NWS said. “Conditions on both days look to be mainly on the low end of Advisory levels.”
Southwest Oregon (Medford, Ashland, Roseburg) is bracing for midweek showers as an upper-level trough moves inland Wednesday, bringing steady rainfall from the coast to the Cascades. South coastal areas could see 1 to 3 inches of rain through midweek, while the western interior is expected to receive between 0.25 and 1 inch. Eastern zones may see up to a quarter inch.
Cloudy skies and cooler temperatures will linger Thursday, though remaining showers are expected to be light and scattered. A shift to drier conditions is forecast for Friday, with what the NWS called “weak ridging” ushering in a modest warming trend across the region.
Up north, Seattle and Tacoma will see a wet start to the week, with rain likely Monday through Wednesday and occasional thunderstorms possible Monday and Wednesday evenings. Highs will stay in the 60s, with gusty south winds reaching up to 25 mph by Tuesday afternoon and rainfall totals ranging from a tenth to half an inch each day.
