ODOT plans to remove the old Battle Creek Road Bridge at the end of the month, a project that will require full closures of both northbound and southbound I-5 during overnight work periods.

“On June 21, we'll have short overnight lane closures on northbound and southbound I-5 to prepare for the upcoming full closures,” ODOT said. “On June 22, 23 and 24, we'll close northbound and southbound I-5 nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., between Exit 252 and Exit 248.”

Detours will be in place: southbound traffic will use Exit 252 to Kuebler Boulevard and Commercial Street SE before re-entering I-5, while northbound drivers will detour via Commercial Street and Kuebler Boulevard back to the freeway.

The schedule may change, and ODOT advises checking TripCheck.com for the latest updates.

Drivers traveling through the area in the meantime should expect a 55-mph work-zone speed limit, daytime and nighttime construction activity, and intermittent lane, shoulder and ramp closures. Trucks will be entering and exiting the site, and debris, dust, noise and delays are possible.

ODOT urges motorists to use caution and watch for workers. More information is available on the project webpage.

Willamette Valley / Salem Traffic

There is some amount of work going on along the Oregon coast and routes to and from this summer.

U.S. 101 Depoe Bay Bridge: Depoe Bay
Crews are removing and replacing the bridge’s protective coating to extend its lifespan. Daytime work is underway with sidewalk closures as needed. Drivers should expect delays, construction noise and occasional nighttime lane closures.

OR 18B: ADA Curb Ramps (Willamina/Sheridan)
Curb ramps are being rebuilt to meet current accessibility standards. In Willamina, watch for single-lane and shoulder closures with flaggers directing traffic. Please use caution through the work zone.

OR 6: Guardrail Upgrades (Tillamook County)
Guardrail along this stretch of OR 6 is being upgraded for improved safety. Daytime work is happening in multiple locations, with lane and shoulder closures and flaggers managing traffic.

OR 6: Devils Lake Fork Wilson River Bridge (Lincoln County)
Structural repairs are underway to preserve the bridge. Expect daytime work and single-lane closures controlled by an automated flagging device. Drivers should proceed carefully and watch for crews.

OR 202: Nehalem River Bridge Improvement (Clatsop County)
The bridge surface is being replaced to provide a smoother ride. Work runs Monday through Thursday with a 24/7 single-lane closure. A temporary signal is directing traffic, and a hard barrier separates vehicles from the work zone. Wider vehicles may need an alternate route.
