(Newport, Oregon) – At the center of charming Newport is something even more charming. Nye Beach is the town's interface with most of its beaches – a neighborhood steeped in central Oregon coast history, practically in existence before Newport itself. At least as a tourist destination it had the waterfront town beat by a decade or two.

That mix of history and the sleek and modern is something Nye Beach is consistent with. Even its little streets are paved in a retro manner. Many of its buildings have that feel as well.

Among the stand-outs in that look is Inn at Nye Beach, a glorious landmark that seems to soar even at just a couple, three stories. It's a look that's part old fishing town and part upscale beauty.

Inn at Nye Beach is like those glowing blue hours you get great glimpses of from here: it seems to shine in a unique way. Among those reasons is that cajoling back deck with the Infinity Spa. You don't find that often on the Oregon coast – in fact, probably not anywhere else here.

Rightly so, this tidbit of aquatic paradise is a bit of a star on social media, with striking and even unbelievably beautiful shots floating around the digital ether, showing eruptions of color and ocean just beyond its mirrored surface. Shoot the scene right and it really is a kind of infinity: you can't tell where this ends and the Pacific begins.

It's just the tip of the iceberg here.

Inside, they have a charming little oceanside cafe, open until noon. Ocean Café serves Stumptown Coffee alongside a selection of housemade pastries. The menu also includes a variety of made-from-scratch items such as scones, Nye Pies, cookies, and brownies. Guests can order avocado toast topped with bacon and tomato, a bagel with herbed cream cheese, or a lox bagel finished with herbed cream cheese and capers.

Inn at Nye Beach brings a relaxed, boutique vibe to the coast, and they have a way of blending eco-minded design with all kinds of comforts. Every room and suite is styled with reclaimed materials and a warm, coastal character. There's direct beach access in the midst of that helping of sweeping ocean scenery.

Amenities:

Rooms come stocked with complimentary Wi-Fi, a flat-screen HDTV, microwave, mini fridge, and a French press with fresh-ground Portland Roasting coffee. Guests also get high-thread-count linens, oversized rain-shower heads, eco-friendly bath products, naturally antibacterial towels, and a gas fireplace for those classic Oregon coast evenings. Loose-leaf tea from Steven Smith Teamaker, a continental breakfast with pastries and hot drinks, and complimentary DVD rentals add to the cozy, boutique feel. Pets are welcome in ground-floor rooms.

There are three styles of rooms.

The Inn at Nye Beach studios offer private patios with panoramic views of the Pacific. Guests who book a King Studio can sink into a freestanding soaking tub, a perfect end to a day of beachcombing or exploring Newport’s historic spots.

Then, there are ocean view suites. These are for travelers who want extra space. The suites deliver a separate bedroom and living area, plus a sleeper sofa for added flexibility. Ocean views are front and center, giving the suites a breezy, open feel that fits the coastal setting.

City view rooms look out toward Newport, with a French step balcony that lets in fresh air and city energy. It’s a comfortable blend of boutique style and the thoughtful touches that come from a family-owned hotel. 729 NW Coast St. Newport, Oregon. 541.265.2477. 800.480.2477. www.innatnyebeach.com.
