(Oceanside, Oregon) - If you've wandered inside the Oceanside tunnel recently, you may have noticed it's rather smothered in graffiti. Thus, a local group is holding a cleanup. It happens on Friday, October 2.
“Cape Lookout may be closed for construction, but stewardship doesn’t stop,” says Marina Dreeben, WEBS Stewardship Coordinator.
Friends of Netarts Bay Watershed, Estuary, Beach, and Sea (WEBS) is finding new ways to support its friends at the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) while the campground and day-use areas remain closed at the nearby Oregon coast hotspot.
WEBS will join local beach rangers from 9 a.m. to noon to paint over graffiti and clear debris from the tunnel.

Yet these Oregon coast troopers need your help. Volunteers of all experience levels are invited. The work will involve navigating slippery, uneven surfaces, including wet rocks. Closed-toed shoes are required, and organizers strongly recommend sturdy boots. Participants should dress for variable coastal weather and wear clothing suitable for painting and cleanup work.
Registration is required. Details and sign-ups are available at netartsbaywebs.org/events.
Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS shares updates at netartsbaywebs.org and on social media at @netartsbaywebs.

The cleanup is part of the Explore Nature series, a collaboration of community and nonprofit groups offering outdoor programs that highlight Tillamook County’s natural resources and ongoing conservation efforts. More information is available at explorenaturetillamookcoast.com.
