Fire Restrictions Rescinded on Oregon Coast Federal Forestland - Inland State Parks Vary

Rain and cooler weather have lowered wildfire risk across the Siuslaw National Forest (SNF), prompting officials to rescind public use restrictions on Sept. 18, 2026. With the change, campfires are once again allowed outside developed campgrounds, and limits on grills, chainsaws, off-highway vehicles and smoking have been removed.

“However, it is still important to keep campfires small and away from vegetation. Before you leave a campfire, make sure it is cold to the touch,” SNF said.

The forest is now listed at low fire danger. Visitors can check the Oregon Department of Forestry website for current IFPL information on the coast and nearby areas. Additional fire updates are available on the Siuslaw National Forest website. Wildfires should be reported to 9-1-1, and questions about debris burning on private land should be directed to local fire agencies.

The SNF areas along the Oregon coast include parts of Tillamook County, Lincoln County and Douglas and Coos counties, especially those forestlands just east of beaches. You'll find them in and around Tillamook, Pacific City, Hebo, Lincoln City, Waldport, Yachats, Florence and just past Reedsport.

In Oregon State Parks, however, fire restrictions remain in place at numerous inland campgrounds and day-use sites. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department advises visitors to confirm rules before traveling, noting that restrictions vary by location and may apply only to certain areas within a park.

Parks not listed on the OPRD seasonal restrictions page allow wood fires under standard rules, but officials say each park may have its own guidelines that should be reviewed in advance.

These are mostly in vast but sensitive outback areas such as outside of Klamath Falls, near Bend or in the Blue Mountains.

OPRD also reminds visitors that fireworks are prohibited year-round on all Oregon coast beaches and on Oregon State Parks property.

It has been an extraordinarily bad fire season in many areas of Oregon and Washington, with central Oregon and Washington getting the worst of it.

There was one very serious fireworks incident on the Oregon coast this summer in Lincoln City.

The place came highly recommended from friends, so I figured it was going to be good. But I wasn't prepared for this awesome. I felt soooo at home. Room with a balcony right on the ocean ? that was incredible. It may not be upscale but it's not far from that at all. Went with the family and our favorite thing was sitting in that enclosed area at dusk, watching the Prom and sipping the early evening away. Just gorgeous all around. Will so be back. 4/12/2025
