(Rockaway Beach, Oregon) – A large chunk of northwest Oregon and southwest Washington are under winter weather advisories and cautionary messages about driving conditions through higher elevations. Much of southern Oregon is under this as well, although many areas there are under a sterner winter storm warning. Meanwhile a fair amount of the southern Oregon coast is under a freeze watch.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has extended a Winter Weather Advisory for the foothills of the northern and central Oregon Cascades, the North and Central Coast Range mountains, the Willapa Hills, and the south Washington Cascade foothills, in effect from 4 a.m. Monday through 4 a.m. Thursday. Travel issues are likely in the coast range and definitely the Cascades.
Forecasters expect steady rounds of snow through midweek, with 2 to 5 inches possible from Monday morning into Monday night.
“Another 0.5 to 2 inches of snow is expected from Tuesday morning through Tuesday night, then another 2 to 5 inches of snow is expected from Wednesday morning through Wednesday night,” the NWS said.

The advisory also covers communities including Lake Merwin, Silver Falls, McKenzie Bridge, Mary's Peak, Valsetz, Rhododendron, Cherryville, Oakridge, Detroit, Mill City, Brooklyn, Horton, Amboy, Yacolt, Wilson River Summit, Sunset Summit, Welches, Vida, Toutle, and Brightwood. The NWS warns that roads - especially bridges and overpasses - will likely become slick and hazardous. Snowfall amounts are expected to dip on Tuesday as precipitation becomes lighter and more isolated, before increasing again on Wednesday as moisture becomes more widespread.
The NWS urges travelers to carry a winter emergency kit and to use caution on potentially slick walking surfaces. Oregon road conditions and chain requirements are available at tripcheck.com, while Washington updates can be found at wsdot.com/travel/real-time/map.
The NWS also issued a Freeze Watch for the southern Oregon coast and parts of the Coast Range, in effect from late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. Forecasters say sub-freezing temperatures as low as 27 degrees are possible across coastal areas of Douglas, Coos, and Curry counties, including Reedsport, Lakeside, Charleston, Coquille, Bandon, Port Orford, Gold Beach, and Brookings. The NWS warns that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, damage sensitive vegetation, and harm unprotected outdoor plumbing. Meteorologists note that Wednesday morning is likely to bring the coldest temperatures of the week, with a brief break in the active weather pattern allowing freezing conditions to develop.
Winter storm warnings are in effect through February 19 for areas around Roseburg, Canyonville, etc. that are above 1000 feet.

We stayed here at the end of October 2025, and it was exactly what I needed. We were there almost a week, and it was peaceful with a beautiful view. The staff was phenomenal. The room was excellent. The hot tub was perfect and sat right over the beach. Any issue I had was taken care of right away. I can't say enough about the staff. I'll definitely be staying here again.
