Astoria Accidental: Randomized Photo Tour of the Oregon Coast Town You (Almost) Control

Published 07/20/26 at 8:55 p.m.
By Oregon Coast Beach Connection Staff

(Astoria, Oregon) – The place is literally dripping in history: soaked to the bone in the past. Its downtown looks straight out of Portland in the 1960s, its waterfront is full of ancient finds, and not far away from town is the camping fort of Lewis & Clark back in 1805.

On the north Oregon coast, Astoria sits at the boundary of the state and seemingly even of time itself. Or at least some sort of crisscross point of various times. You're always walking into a new era if you move around enough there.

Which is why providing a randomized way of looking at the area just fits. Here, a large variety of articles and news features about Astoria, Warrenton, Skipanon, Hammond and Gearhart float about freely. Most are photos (with articles attached) from the Astoria / Warrenton Virtual Tour / Complete Guide, while some are the latest news bits from the area. But the key here is you get to – sort of – control what you see. Hit the random button and watch the photos change.

New stuff will be added on occasion - but you'll have to come back click the random button to find it.

It's meant as adjunct to the virtual tour. Mostly, it's a wacky little way to explore an old favorite.
