(Oceanside, Oregon) – Crazy weather and crazy times: the last few days of king tides and nutty weather brought some interesting sights to the coastlines of Oregon and Washington. Funnel clouds / water spouts were formed (causing tornado warnings at one point), docks were damaged, an RV was overturned, at least one vehicle got stuck in the surf, and towering, gargantuan waves hit some places like Coos Bay's Shore Acres (see photo at bottom of article). The Netarts Bay Boat Launch at 2065 Netarts Basin Boat Road in Tillamook sustained significant damage following a series of intense rainstorms and the king tide event that began on November 5. In response, Tillamook County Parks maintenance crews have been working steadily since to clear storm debris from the boat ramp and adjacent parking area. Cleanup efforts were expected to continue through the early afternoon of Friday, November 7, 2025 - as of the last update from TCP.

The storm caused the existing dock to break into three sections. One portion became lodged in the upper bank, another remains partially attached to the final pier, and the section nearest the ramp is still functional. Plans are in place to extract the embedded dock segment and temporarily store it in the small parking lot until repairs can begin early next week.

A whole lotta gnarly weather broke out on the Washington coast and Oregon coast, including at least two waterspouts and / or tornadoes. The National Weather Service (NWS) had confirmed sighting of at least one Thursday on its radar in the Ilwaco area. That could well be what was photographed here, which the photographer says was a funnel cloud for a few seconds before it faded into this shape.

On Friday, Netarts-Oceanside Fire District caught the above dramatic sight in Netarts Bay, with the beginnings of a water spout. It doesn't appear to have been fully formed, but it looks as if one was starting to build.

Authorities there say one was confirmed to them at one point. (Wait for video below to load)

“Another crazy weather day,” the agency said. “Waterspout in Netarts Bay. Had opportunity to inspect damage in Oceanside. US Weather Service confirmed a waterspout around 4:35 pm yesterday.”

Many trees were downed in Oceanside, and the Tillamook fire department also showed an RV that was turned over in the wind storms.

On the Washington coast, along the Long Beach Peninsula, someone had the misfortune to be driving along that beach during king tides Friday. The result was this gray SUV getting stuck first in the water and then in the sand.

Photos and video from the group Long Beach Peninsula 4x4 Rescue show a woman being carried from the vehicle and then it being towed out by the group and Hill Auto Body & Towing.

Just because you are allowed to drive on a beach on a particular Oregon coast or Washington coast spot does not mean you should.

Current weather forecasts show conditions easing for most of the Pacific Northwest coastline, even heading to sunny weather on Tuesday. Offshore seas remain mostly under ten feet, which means it should be safe to hit the beaches again and look for the oddities storms kicked up onto the sands.
