The Little Log Church and Museum in Yachats will mark a milestone this winter as it hosts its 30th annual Valentine’s Day Celebration of Renewal and Commitment on Saturday, Feb. 14, continuing a long-running tradition dedicated to honoring and strengthening relationships.

The ceremonies return to the historic church and Oregon coast landmark at 328 W. Third St. for the first time since 2020, with seatings scheduled at noon and 5:30 p.m. Married couples and unmarried committed partners are welcome to take part.

Independent, non-denominational minister Mary Crook will again lead the celebration. She has presided over the event since its launch in 1996 and says it continues to draw couples from across Oregon and beyond. “For some, this is a first-time experience; for others, it has become an annual Valentine’s Day tradition,” she said.

Live music will be provided by local performer David Cowden on keyboard and guitar. This year’s theme, “New Beginnings,” highlights both personal renewal and the ongoing restoration of the 1930s-era church. Each couple will receive a commemorative certificate.

Proceeds support the Friends of the Little Log Church Museum and the building’s restoration. A donation of $20 per couple is suggested, and reservations are required due to limited seating. To reserve a space, contact Events Coordinator Mary Crook at 541-547-4547.

The museum has been closed since April 2020 while undergoing structural evaluations and planning for major repairs. During that time, the annual vow renewals were temporarily relocated to Yachats Community Presbyterian Church.

Reconstruction began in March 2025. Phase one restored the church sanctuary, while phase two will focus on the museum annex. Completion of the sanctuary work now allows the Valentine’s Day celebration to return to its original home for its 30th year.
