(Oceanside, Oregon) - Two upcoming events in the Oceanside area provide a way to give back to the natural beauty of the region while getting unique glimpses of two rather amazing north Oregon coast spots. Cape Lookout and the nearby Short Beach have a myriad of aspects not found at other beach areas of the shoreline and you'll get an opportunity to see more than most do. Wednesday, June 18th kicks off this summer’s Cape Lookout Stewardship Days on this part of the north Oregon coast. This is an awesome opportunity to give back and work to maintain these natural areas and restore healthy coastal landscapes. Organized annually by WEBS in partnership with Cape Lookout State Park, these events focus on removing invasive ivy and nurturing native plant life, continuing efforts that have significantly benefited the park’s ecosystem in recent years.
“This is a great way for people to give back while also enjoying a day outdoors and connecting with the community,” said Marina Dreeben, WEBS Stewardship Coordinator. “And there are plenty more opportunities to volunteer throughout the season.”
Additional stewardship days are scheduled for:

Cape Lookout State Park - Oregon Coast Beach Connection
- Wednesday, July 9
- Sunday, July 27
- Wednesday, August 13
- Sunday, August 24
Activities accommodate a range of skill levels, and families are welcome to participate. More information and registration details can be found at Netarts Bay WEBS.
Meanwhile, another project will focus on essential maintenance for the famed “one thousand steps” at Short Beach near Oceanside. The Short Beach Steps: Demolition and Installation event is set for Thursday, June 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., led by Trail Keepers of Oregon (TKO).

Volunteers will assist in demolishing a deteriorating stairset, hauling out old materials, and constructing new steps under the guidance of expert craftsmen. Organizers note that the project involves a moderately steep hike with uneven terrain. Detailed information - including directions to the meeting location - will be provided to registrants 48 hours prior to the event.
For those new to TKO events, the organization encourages reading their blog, which provides insights into what to expect at a trail restoration project.

Short Beach is located a few miles north of Oceanside along the Three Cape Loop, a scenic coastal route renowned for its stunning ocean views and rugged terrain.
