The Florence Area Chamber of Commerce has opened submissions for its annual photo contest, inviting amateur and professional photographers to capture the spirit of “Oregon’s Coastal Playground.” The winning image will earn a $250 cash prize and be prominently featured in the Chamber’s visitor guide, marketing materials, website, and social media platforms.

Entries must showcase the fun, beauty, and character of Florence and its surrounding attractions, with eligible photos taken within a 20-mile radius of the city. Submissions are due by November 15, 2025, and the winner will be selected by a panel of Chamber members and notified within 30 days.

Last year’s winning photo, submitted by Robyn Wargo of Roseburg, featured her granddaughter Eowyn gleefully flying a kite on Heceta Beach - an image that captured both innocence and the coastal spirit.

They are looking for images that truly reflect the joy and vibrancy of life on the coast. Whether it’s a moment of family fun, a scenic landmark, or a snapshot of local culture, they want to see what makes Florence unforgettable.

“We are looking for the best photos that represent this place we call ‘Oregon’s Coastal Playground,’ so we’re looking for outstanding amateur or professional photos that convey our theme,” says Chamber president and CEO Bettina Hannigan. “Photos from in town, around town, nearby attractions, and from the natural areas within 20 miles of Florence will be eligible. We call this place Oregon’s Coastal Playground for a reason, so we want images that highlight Florence as a fun and memorable vacation destination.”

Photographers may submit up to 10 high-resolution images in .jpg format, ideally sized at 1920×1080 pixels and 8MP. If the photo is more than 10 MP in file size, contestants can email Contest@FlorenceChamber.com for a Dropbox URL through which to share the entry. Portrait-oriented photos are preferred for print use, though landscape shots are also welcome. Entries must be free of watermarks and accompanied by signed release forms for any recognizable individuals. Participants under 18 must provide parental consent.

The contest is open to residents and visitors alike, with special consideration given to photos that reflect the diversity of people enjoying Florence’s natural and cultural offerings.

By entering the contest, contestants state they have clear ownership and rights to submit the photo, that the photo is free of encumbrance by other entities, and give the Chamber unlimited rights for the use of photos in its publicity and marketing materials. Entrants retain rights for their own private use of the photos. Entrants must provide signed photo release forms granting the Chamber permission to use the image or likeness of anyone included in the photo. For credit purposes, please title your image with your name.

To enter, visit FlorenceChamber.com/photo-contest, call 541-997-3128, or email Info@FlorenceChamber.com.
