A day-use parking permit costs $10 for Oregon residents and $12 for out-of-state visitors and is valid at any state park for the entire day. Visitors who arrive on foot, by bike, or by public transit will continue to have free access. Drivers can show valid parking by displaying a current camping hangtag or an active 12- or 24-month parking permit. Those who purchase parking online or through QR codes can link their license plates to confirm payment.

OPRD currently requires parking permits at 46 parks and waives fees at more than 150 others. The newly added parks were selected because they include amenities that require ongoing maintenance, such as restrooms, trails, paving, irrigation systems, and boat ramps. Revenue from parking fees supports upkeep and operations.
“These updates are about protecting the experiences visitors love,” Interim Director Stefanie Coons said. “We know fee changes are tough and we truly appreciate the support from visitors. These changes help us take care of things people count on like restrooms, boat ramps, and trails, so we can keep parks safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone.”

Oregon State Parks receives just under half its funding from lottery revenues, about 15 percent from recreational vehicle license plate fees, and roughly 35 percent from visitor fees. The agency does not receive general fund tax dollars.
Frequent visitors can purchase a 12-month parking permit for $60. The 24-month permit is no longer sold, but existing permits remain valid until they expire.

March 30 also marks the start of a $10 fee at 19 RV dump stations across the park system. The fee supports maintenance and more sustainable operations. Payment can be made online or by scanning a QR code at the dump station.
OPRD encourages visitors to check park webpages before traveling, as conditions can change quickly and some locations may have construction or seasonal closures.
