(Brookings, Oregon) – Three major festivals are coming up on Oregon's Wild River Coast – Curry County, that is. It's the south Oregon coast region that includes Brookings and Gold Beach, and now it will entail a monster county fair, an invasion of pirates and some tasty mushroom action in the fall.
Here's a small preview:
Add a little rollicking to your frolicking on the beach. The Curry County Fair will return to Gold Beach July 23 - 26, 2026, celebrating “Tides, Timber, Tradition” with four days of entertainment, livestock events, carnival rides, food, and local vendors at the Curry County Fairgrounds.
It's the only fairgrounds in Oregon where you can see the ocean.
This year’s live entertainment lineup opens Thursday, July 23, with a 7 p.m. rodeo featuring bull riding. Illusionist Scott Anderson, known for appearances on America’s Got Talent, Wizard Wars, Go Big Show, and national news broadcasts, performs Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m.
Friday’s schedule also includes Oregon country singer-songwriter Tony Lundervold at 6 p.m., followed by an 8:30 p.m. Brooks & Dunn “Only in America” tribute show by the Stinson Brotherz, who bring a full-production recreation of the duo’s signature sound.

Saturday’s lineup features the Off Axis Stunt Show at 6 p.m., a high-energy acrobatic and extreme-sports performance from Las Vegas, and a 7 p.m. concert by Sam Girl, whose set blends 1990s country influences with original music.
Alongside the stage entertainment, fairgoers can expect livestock shows, live music, carnival attractions, local vendors, and traditional fair food throughout the weekend. Additional details will be announced as the event approaches. https://eventcenteronthebeach.com/fair-1
The 15th annual Pirates of the Pacific Festival will return to Brookings August 7 - 9, offering three days of cannon fire demonstrations, sword-fighting displays, cosplay, and themed entertainment along the south coast. Festival hours run Friday from noon to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
It's way more than one big LARP opportunity - though there will be plenty of real-life pirate-types because of that. From the opening blast of a cannon, to rather amazing, intricately-staged pirate knife fights and mermaids, to food, belly dancers, pirate encampments and lots of rock 'n roll, the Pirates of the Pacific Festival is a lot more than just a group of folks getting dressed up like pirates. Over 60 vendors are hawking handmade wares as well.

The event features pirate costume contests, treasure hunts, live performances, workshops, arts and crafts, and a full lineup of food and merchandise vendors. Families can take part in interactive activities throughout the weekend, while roaming performers and staged shows add to the festival’s theatrical atmosphere.
This year brings a special gig by Viking rockers Nordic Daughter. Bring out your inner Ragnar.
Organizers encourage attendees to arrive in pirate attire to fully join the festivities, which highlight the playful, swashbuckling spirit that has made the event a summer staple in Brookings.
More details will be announced as the festival approaches. This is the 15th year of the festival. Pirates of the Pacific Festival website.
When fall comes, so does a new way to chill as it gets chilly. And it's a decidedly yummy way.

The Wild Rivers Mushroom Festival will return to the south Oregon coast November 7 - 8, 2026, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at Chetco Brewing Company, 830 Railroad Street in Brookings.
It's the creation of he Wild Rivers Mushroom Club - a nonprofit created in 2003 in Brookings, encompassing Northern California and Southern Oregon.
The two-day event features more than 200 varieties of locally collected wild mushrooms on display, along with vendors, food, craft beer, expert lectures, hands-on workshops, demonstrations, and guided identification hikes. Organizers say the mushroom exhibit remains one of the festival’s biggest draws, with past attendees often remarking on how surprised they are by the sheer range of species gathered for the showcase.
General admission is $5 and is valid for one or both days. Children under 12 are admitted free. Service dogs are allowed, but non-service pets are not permitted due to liability rules at the venue.
Tickets for lectures, workshops, and mushroom identification hikes go on sale Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, the day after Labor Day, and will also be available at the door as long as sessions are not sold out. Hikes are limited to about 15 participants and will be offered multiple times each day.
This year’s festival adds a second location for select workshops: the Brookings Event Center at 800 Chetco Ave., Unit B, one block from Chetco Brewing. Attendees are encouraged to confirm the venue for their chosen sessions.
Workshops and lectures will cover cooking, tasting, preserving, and growing mushrooms, along with foraging and identification topics.
