Video: Oregon / Washington Heatwave Warnings Abound, Around 100

Major heatwaves are on the way for Oregon, Washington and even – by comparison – the coastline. Portland, Eugene and most of northwest Oregon and southern Washington are in for 100 degrees by Sunday and Monday. Heatwave alerts have gone up for areas from Spokane down through Eugene, Medford, Ashland and the central Oregon Coast Range.

Along the beach towns, it's expected to get into the low 70s on Oregon's south coast, then near 80 up north and into Washington. The northern Washington coast could get up to 90.

Seattle is also getting into the upper 80s.

The National Weather Service says this will be a slow build and not suddenly hit the region with major heat.

“Extreme Heat Watch issued June 9 at 9:16PM PDT until June 15 at 11:00PM PDT by NWS Portland OR. 9 Jun 2026 at 10:16pm,” say just one of the many warnings. “ WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures between 95 and 100 degrees possible. WHERE...Portland Metro Lowlands, Western Columbia River Gorge, Inner Vancouver Metro, and East Clark County Lowlands. * WHEN...From Sunday morning through Monday evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Low temperatures between 63 to 66 degrees are possible for Monday morning and Tuesday morning. However, there is a 10-20% chance that low temperatures remain above 70 degrees, which would lead to limited overnight relief.”
