(Newport, Oregon) – Parking fees just got a little easier in one Oregon coast town.
Newport's paid parking districts will shift to their off-season schedule beginning November 2, with parking in public Bayfront areas and the Nye Beach turnaround becoming free Monday through Friday through April 2027.
“Parking will also be free on Saturday, Oct. 31, for Halloween trick-or-treating at Bayfront and Nye Beach businesses, and Saturday, Dec. 5, as the community celebrates the holiday season with events including the annual Lighted Boat Parade and holiday tree lighting,” said the City of Newport.
Paid parking will continue on Saturdays and Sundays under current rates, hours and restrictions. Vehicles displaying valid disability placards, plates or permits may park free of charge in city-paid parking districts, except in private lots and other restricted areas. Motorists are encouraged to check posted signs for parking regulations before leaving their vehicles.

City officials said revenue generated by the paid parking program is reinvested into improvements and programs within Newport's parking districts. Additional information on parking locations, rates and payment options is available at NewportOregon.gov/parking.php.
Last year, parking in Nye Beach was added after the Bayfront had it for three years.
There, parking will cost $1 per hour with no time limit from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily during the summer months. Street parking in the surrounding Nye Beach neighborhood remains free for up to three hours during the same hours. Monthly and annual zone permits will be available to Nye Beach businesses, employees, and residential property owners in time-limited areas, with day permits offered for lodging guests.
