On Saturday, May 31 at 10:00 AM, the Metropolitan Opera will live-stream Rossini’s celebrated comedy “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” to the Alice Silverman Theater at Newport Performing Arts Center, offering Oregon Coast audiences a chance to experience the performance in real-time from nearly 3,000 miles away. This final presentation of the Met’s 2024-2025 “Live in HD” season showcases Bartlett Sher’s lively production, conducted by Giacomo Sagripanti, and features mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina as Rosina, tenor Jack Swanson in his Met debut as Count Almaviva, and baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky as Figaro.
