On Saturday, May 31 at 10:00 AM, the Metropolitan Opera will live-stream Rossini’s celebrated comedy “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” to the Alice Silverman Theater at Newport Performing Arts Center, offering Oregon Coast audiences a chance to experience the performance in real-time from nearly 3,000 miles away. This final presentation of the Met’s 2024-2025 “Live in HD” season showcases Bartlett Sher’s lively production, conducted by Giacomo Sagripanti, and features mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina as Rosina, tenor Jack Swanson in his Met debut as Count Almaviva, and baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky as Figaro. With its sharp wit, dazzling melodies, and iconic solos - including the title character’s exuberant Act I aria “Largo al factotum” - Rossini’s masterpiece has been captivating audiences for over two centuries.

Sung in Italian with English subtitles, this “Live in HD” event delivers world-class opera with stunning cinematography and premium sound quality. The performance runs approximately three hours and ten minutes, including two intermissions, and tickets range from $12 to $28. They can be purchased at the Newport Performing Arts Center box office, by phone, or online at www.coastarts.org/events/met-barbiere, with additional fees for digital purchases.
