(Yamhill, Oregon) – Every year for decades now, hundreds of carloads – if not more – hit the rural highways of Oregon the day after Thanksgiving, looking for a different kind of deal. It's more "reds Friday" than a Black Friday. Fine reds and whites, you might say.

What started out as Yamhill Wine Country Thanksgiving celebration eventually became the Oregon Wine Country Thanksgiving festival, spreading out from McMinnville, Dundee, West Salem, Chahalem into Portland, the Oregon Coast Range and into Corvallis and the Eugene area. It's always been a lively mix of special tastings, pairings with stellar food, live music events and specials tours of the winemakers that are inching Oregon towards Nappa Valley status.

This year, Oregon Wine Country Thanksgiving was spread over two weekends: the first started things off November 22 – 23, but more happens throughout the week and this coming weekend, November 28 – 30. Part two starts this week technically, but really keeps going right after Thanksgiving.

Wine Country Thanksgiving brings a wide range of experiences across the Willamette Valley, from guided tastings and live music to special releases, rare pours, and holiday stock-up events. Seasonal highlights include the Olio Nuovo Festival at Durant at Red Ridge Farms.

While McMinnville and Newberg remain central to the festivities, wineries throughout the valley are joining in. From Portland to Corvallis – and down towards Eugene – the fun continues. In the Corvallis and South Salem area, the Heart of Willamette Wineries passport provides access to discounts, complimentary flights, and other holiday perks.

Participating this year are a wide variety of Oregon burghs and purveyors: Adelsheim Vineyard (Newberg), iOTA Cellars (Amity), Jachter Family Wines (Portland), Van Duzer Vineyards (Dallas), Broadley Vineyards Winery (Monroe), Fairsing Vineyard (Yamhill), Flâneur Wines (Carlton), Love & Squalor Wine at Portland Wine Company (Portland), Arabilis (Newberg), Yamhill Valley Vineyards (McMinnville), Natalie’s Estate Winery (Newberg), Hyland Estates (McMinnville), Barking Dog (Newberg), Balsall Creek (Carlton), Coeur de Terre Vineyard (McMinnville), Willamette Valley Vineyards (Turner), The Atelier / Big Table Farm (Carlton), Ambar Estate (Newberg), Elk Cove Vineyards (Gaston), Raptor Ridge Winery (Newberg), Illahe Vineyards (Salem), Stoller Family Estate (Dayton), Failla Wines (Carlton).
