(Tillamook, Oregon) – Various road closures plagued the Oregon coast and other areas of the state Thursday and Friday, but the majority of those are at least partially opened back up on the shoreline. (Hwy 6 hole beneath the highway / ODOT)
OR 6 (Highway 6) was closed for a time today (Friday) because a large portion of the road cracked. It has now reopened partially.
ODOT said OR 6 is reduced to a single open lane about 10 miles west of Glenwood, between mileposts 29 and 42, because of a landslide and a sunken roadway surface. Flaggers are directing traffic around the clock, and significant delays are likely. Drivers are encouraged to take an alternate route when they can.
That closure also prompted the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad to close its Candy Cane Express ride Friday. Those regular schedules return on Saturday.
Near Neskowin last night, a landslide took out part of the lane going northbound. Now, that is somewhat reopened.

U.S. 101 is down to one lane roughly 2 miles south of Neskowin, between mileposts 102 and 103, after a landslide beneath the highway. Traffic is being flagged 24/7, and long delays are expected. Motorists should use another route if possible.
Along OR 6, there is still a closure one mile east of Tillamook.
“High water has closed the road. Follow detour,” ODOT said.
Also for a time, a downed tree created traffic problems near Cascade Head.

Standing water is still affecting some areas at this hour (around midnight early Saturday). That includes one area in the Neotsu neighborhood of Lincoln City.

Early on Friday, inclement weather closed part of Highway 101 on the south Oregon coast just north of Langlois. That was fairly quickly remedied.
Jenny Nelson of the Lincoln City area reports that Highway 229 where she lives – not far from the massive slide area – had disappeared for awhile beneath flood waters.

More flooding plagued her area Friday but levels have since gone down.
A wide variety of state parks were also closed because of wind damage. Variety of Oregon State Parks Closed Due to Storm, from Coast to Columbia Gorge
Also down: Hangar B at Tillamook Air Museum. The World War II-era blimp hangar was heavily damaged by winds Thursday morning. A massive hole was ripped in the 82-year-old structure, letting rain in and closing the attraction for the time being.
