(Depoe Bay, Oregon) – UPDATE: Much of this list published on 12/18 is no longer current. The status of various state parks keeps changing. See the "park notices" section at stateparks.oregon.gov
HIGHWAY 6 BACK OPEN
A wide range of Oregon State Parks were shut down or damaged by windstorms over Thursday morning and afternoon, and that's on top of what was already closed off due to construction work or previous inclement weather. From the Columbia Gorge down to Silverton and to the coastline, quite a few hotspots were affected. (Above: Yamhill County's Maud Williams)
“Recent weather events have caused landslides and fallen trees in some Oregon state parks,” Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) said. “This may impact access, and a few parks could be temporarily closed for visitor safety. Reservation holders will be notified of any cancellations.”
Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area (Otter Rock – near Depoe Bay on the central Oregon coast): Restrooms are down due to storm damage, with portable toilets provided as a temporary measure.
Milo McIver State Park (Estacada): Estacada Lake is closed because of high water. It will reopen once PGE dam safety officials determine that conditions are safe.
Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail (Cascade Locks): The trail is closed off between John Yeon and Cascade Locks after numerous trees came down.

Banks-Vernonia State Trail (Banks/Vernonia, in the Oregon Coast Range): The trail at this pleasant, sprawling park is closed from milepost 12 to milepost 20 due to extensive treefall.
Shore Acres State Park (Coos Bay, south coast): The Holiday Lights event was cancelled yesterday due to a power outage. It is back on now. Friday's display, so check with Oregon's Adventure Coast for updates.
Silver Falls State Park (Silverton): All trails are closed except the Trail of Ten Falls between the South Falls-Canyon Trail and Maple Ridge Loop. Several paths also have active landslides, and visitors are urged to obey closures.
Detroit Lake State Recreation Area (Detroit): The park is closed after multiple trees fell across the highway and within the grounds.

Silver Falls
Alfred A. Loeb State Park (Brookings, south coast): The access road leading to the Chetco River bar is closed because of high water.
Molalla River State Park (Canby/Molalla): The boat launch and upper trail are blocked by fallen trees following recent strong winds.
Saddle Mountain State Natural Area (Seaside): The park is closed due to trees brought down by heavy rain and wind. Crews will clear the road and reopen once conditions improve.

Ecola State Park (Cannon Beach, north coast): The park is closed indefinitely due to road damage from active landslides. It was shut down last week. OPRD told Oregon Coast Beach Connection: “Due to significant movement of the south slide on Ecola Park Road over the weekend, Ecola State Park is closed to all vehicle traffic. For public safety, the park has been secured by locking the southernmost gate and placing barricades across the roadway at 8th Street.” N. Hug Point near Cannon Beach was also closed down last month after heavy erosion took out the stairway and other means to get down to the beach. There was a hint from OPRD work may begin in the spring. More on Hug Point Closure: Damage at the N. Oregon Coast Legend, Possible Timeline
Hangar B at Tillamook Air Museum. The World War II-era blimp hangar was heavily damaged by winds Thursday morning. A massive hole was ripped in the 82-year-old structure, letting rain in and closing the attraction for the time being.
