Oktoberfest and Octoberfish Return to South Oregon Coast's Coos Bay and Charleston

(Coos Bay, Oregon) – It's time to get down and get downright Germanic.

The south Oregon coast veers into rather creative and yummy territory as early October boast the Octoberfish festival of arts while the Oktoberfest returns to the area as well.

Octoberfish returns to Charleston on October 3 -- 3rd Annual Oktoberfest in Coos Bay October 10.

Octoberfish returns to Charleston on October 3 with a full day of food, music and coastal culture at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology. The annual celebration, known for its playful mix of art, community activities and slightly quirky traditions, runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 63466 Boat Basin Road.

This year’s event again highlights the creative spirit of the Coos Bay area. Visitors can expect live music throughout the afternoon, a tuna cookout, local art displays, yoga and movement workshops, and plenty of games and activities for kids. 7 Devils Brewing Company will be on hand pouring craft beer.

Organizers haven’t revealed much about new additions for 2026, but Octoberfish has a history of surprising festivalgoers with offbeat attractions - from multicultural dance performances to juggling, fire-spinning and even cider presses that require audience participation. These crowd-pleasers have become part of the south Oregon coast event's charm.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and settle in for a kickback day on the waterfront. Proceeds benefit the Charleston Food Bank, supporting community services across the region. See the Coos Bay events site for more.

Then a week later, get ready to get vigorously Germanic and celebratory.

Coos History Museum brings a bit of southern Germany to the south Oregon coast as it raises a stein to tradition on October 10 as it hosts the 3rd Annual Oktoberfest fundraiser in Coos Bay. The 21+ celebration runs from 2 to 6 p.m. and blends Bavarian flair with local support for the museum’s programs.

The Roseburg German Band will provide live music while guests enjoy a Biergarten, German dishes, Bavarian-style snacks and desserts, and a lineup of themed games. A silent auction and cake walk add to the festivities, along with brats, veggies and other Oktoberfest staples.

Tickets are now available, with three entry levels: General Entry at $50, Heritage Supporter at $75 and Legacy Patron at $125, each offering a mix of food, entertainment and collectible perks.

The event takes place at 1210 N. Front Street in Coos Bay, where museum staff and volunteers will transform the venue into a lively fall celebration. Lederhosen and Dirndls are encouraged as guests gather for an afternoon of music, food and fundraising fun. See the Coos Bay events site for more.
