(Lincoln City, Oregon) - As fall settles in, Lincoln City is gearing up for one of the Oregon coast’s signature seasonal traditions: the Lincoln City Fall Kite Festival. And the autumn lineup doesn’t end there. From the Ale Trail and scenic hiking routes to the city’s popular “Exploriences ” programs, visitors will find plenty of ways to enjoy the season.

It is now “Second Summer” - as it's called on the Oregon coast, meaning the region is at its warmest from now through to the middle of October. Or at least it tends to be – and there are still fall-like aspects of the season. Look for Warm Weather Wonders of Second Summer on Oregon Coast

“With crisp coastal air, fewer crowds and room for unexpected discoveries, fall remains one of the best times to explore Lincoln City,” said Explore Lincoln City.

There is heaps coming up:

The Lincoln City Fall Kite Festival returns Sept. 25–27, shifting temporarily to Chinook Winds Casino Resort while construction continues on the new Lincoln City Welcome Center at D River Wayside. Explore Lincoln City says it is pleased to partner with Chinook Winds Casino to keep this long-running tradition “flying high.”

Throughout the weekend, spectators can watch professional kite demonstrations, take in colorful giant show kites, build their own kites and visit interactive displays. The festival opens Sept. 25 with the Night Fly, a family-friendly illuminated kite show running from 7 to 10 p.m., alongside Pixie Fest carnival games benefiting the Kiwanis Club of Lincoln City. A full schedule is available at explorelincolncity.com.

Fall also marks prime time for Lincoln City’s craft beer scene. The Tap and Brew Trail Passport offers a digital guide to local breweries and watering holes, giving beer fans a chance to sample Oregon’s celebrated beer culture while exploring the coast. Night Fly

Misty mornings make autumn ideal for hiking, too. Lincoln City’s trails showcase lush forests, waterfalls and sweeping coastal views. For those who prefer company on the trail, Lincoln City Parks & Recreation and Explore Lincoln City host guided hikes throughout the season.

The Oregon Coast Visitors Association has also introduced its new Seafood Trail, a map highlighting coastal restaurants, seafood markets, food carts, dockside retailers and fisher-family businesses featuring Oregon-landed seafood.

After exploring the trails, visitors can shift into the arts with Lincoln City Art Trails, where public art, galleries and creative experiences add a cultural layer to a coastal getaway. Finders Keepers will offer two special glass-float drop dates this fall: one in September during the Fall Kite Festival and another in October for Halloween.

A fall trip to the coast comes with a few safety reminders. Autumn storms can bring strong swells, sneaker waves and drifting logs, underscoring that the Pacific Ocean remains as unpredictable as it is beautiful. Visitors are encouraged to check weather and tide conditions, stay alert near the water and, when uncertain, enjoy the view from a safe distance. See Lincoln City’s hiking trails
