The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said it received reports around 8:37 a.m. of an aircraft down near the 2800 block of Moonshine Park Road in Logsden. Deputies learned while en route that the incident involved a Bell JetRanger helicopter that had gone down in a cow pasture. No nearby homes, structures, people, or livestock were harmed, and officials emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Responders located the pilot at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the commercially operated aircraft and is not seriously injured.

“The pilot suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported for further evaluation and treatment,” LCSO said.

Regional outlets reported the helicopter was operated for Weyerhaeuser Lumber.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined. The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration have assumed control of the investigation.

The spot is several miles from Highway 229 on the central Oregon coast, where a section of land owned by Weyerhaeuser gave way last month in a massive landslide, wiping out a large section of the roadway. It will possibly be years before that area is workable again to rebuild the highway. Oregon Coast's OR229 Shut Down Indefinitely by Severe, Chasm-like Landslide
