(Newberg, Oregon) – Between the valley towns of Portland and Salem, and not far from the greens and winding highways of the Oregon Coast Range, one of the state's most iconic regions sits rather quietly by comparison. Oregon's wine country region seems to always be burbling just under the surface, poised to take over the tourism show – at least for a bit. (Photos Oregon Coast Beach Connection)
Come late November, it does. The Oregon Wine Country Thanksgiving festival reigns supreme from the foothills of the Coast Range and into Portland. This year it happens November 20 – 22 and November 26 – 29.
But wine country gets cooking with holiday cheer even before that. There's quite a range of happenin's in November that begin to have a holiday theme (you could find more at the Willamette Valley Visitors), leading up to and including the big Thanksgiving vino shindig.

Holiday shopping and community spirit come together at the annual Philomath Frolic Holiday Craft Fair, returning to Philomath Elementary School. Visitors can browse a wide variety of handmade gifts, artisan crafts, and locally made creations while supporting area vendors and a good cause. This year's event partners with Philomath Middle School to help raise funds for the school's Outdoor School Program, with 100 percent of Craft Fair proceeds benefiting the effort. Organizers invite the public to shop local, support student education, and kick off the holiday season. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
