Retro / Vintage Trailer Fest Again Hits Oregon Coast, Bringing the Kitsch to Florence

Florence will filled to the brim with the retro camping scene as the 9th annual Goin' with the Flo Vintage Trailer Rally and Community Open House returns to Heceta Beach RV Park. Dozens of restored and in-progress vintage travel trailers will be on display Saturday, September 26, 2026, from noon to 3 p.m. at 4636 Heceta Beach Road, near the intersection with Rhododendron Drive.

The event is free and open to all ages, and it's one of those quirky delights only Oregon's coastline can conjure up.

“This is about celebrating the spirit of vintage camping and the artistry of restoration,” said organizer Terry Hankins. “The trailers are all so different. Some are quite rare and have such interesting histories.”

Hankins said that vintage hot rods and classic cars will roll in around noon to stage alongside the trailers.

Visitors will be able to tour trailers ranging from fully refurbished showpieces to works still in progress, while meeting owners who enjoy sharing stories about restoration, travel, and keeping these mid-century rigs roadworthy.

Hankins noted that Florence's reputation as “Oregon's Coastal Playground” makes it an ideal backdrop for a retro-themed weekend.

“Golf, fishing, crabbing, sandboarding, riding the dunes on an ATV - and thinking within the context of ‘retro,' it's also a super town for antiquing and thrifting. If you're thinking of a weekend getaway, this makes for a great time to come out and play.”

Then there's the official nod to one of the state's more notoriously hilarious historic moments thrown in the mix. Terry and her husband Dan operate Exploding Whale Beach Camp, home to three classic rentable Airstreams and a 1960s Streamline.
