Concert in Wilds of Shore Acres: South Oregon Coast's 'In A Lanscape' Aug. 29

“IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild,” the roaming outdoor concert series created by Oregon pianist Hunter Noack. The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, with gates opening at 4 p.m. and the performance beginning at 5 p.m.

One of the south Oregon coast's most highly-anticipated gigs of the year, the ocean vistas are right behind you and those breezes surrounding you.

Founded in 2016, the series brings a 9-foot Steinway grand piano to parks, ranches, farms and historic sites across the West. Essentially, they replace traditional concert halls with natural scenery. Audience members listen through wireless headphones, allowing them to wander freely through the landscape while the performance unfolds.

At Shore Acres - perched on those sandstone, always-dramatic cliffs above the Pacific - concert-goers can explore the formal gardens first established by timber baron Louis J. Simpson. The grounds include a Japanese-style garden, a lily pond and curated rose gardens featuring All-American Rose Selections. Trails beyond the garden lead to Simpson Beach, a secluded cove below the area.

General admission tickets are $45 plus fees. Through the organization’s Good Neighbor Program, free tickets are available in limited quantities; EBT cardholders may use the promo code “inthewild” and present their card at check-in. Headphones are included with admission and can be picked up at registration. No seating is provided, and attendees are encouraged to bring low-back chairs to preserve sightlines. Get tickets https://inalandscape.org/

Shore Acres State Park is located 13 miles southwest of Coos Bay via Cape Arago Highway. Parking requires a $10 day-use fee unless visitors display a valid annual State Parks pass.
