(Oceanside, Oregon) – Among the hotspots for tidepools on the Oregon coast, Oceanside is top tier. Some of the most explosive colors happen at the very northern edges of the city's beaches – just beyond the tunnel. And there's more right up against Maxwell Point. Now, the local group Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS is hosting three days of guided tidepool exploration during the month when tides to do their getting-really-low act. Three days of rocky fun happens June 16 - 18, coinciding with some of the month’s lowest tides along the north Oregon coast.
Staff, Oregon State Parks rangers, and trained volunteers will be stationed on the beach in Oceanside to help visitors identify intertidal species and learn about the coastal ecosystem. Organizers say participants can expect to see everything from seaweeds and sculpin fish to anemones, sea stars, and hermit crabs.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the local community, friends, and family as you enjoy the beauty of Oceanside's amazing tidepools,” the group said. “We hope to see you on the beach June 16th, 17th, and 18th.”

The outings are designed as informal, drop-in educational opportunities, with community members encouraged to attend one or all three days.
Safety guidance includes wearing boots or bringing a change of shoes; flip-flops are discouraged due to slippery and uneven terrain. The program involves walking on wet rocks, seaweed, and barnacle-covered surfaces. WEBS encourages anyone with accessibility needs to reach out in advance.
“We understand everyone learns and experiences the outdoors differently, and we strive to support everyone who is interested in attending our events,” WEBs said. “Please contact us in advance so we can do our best to accommodate your accessibility needs.”

Registration is required. Details and sign-ups are available at netartsbaywebs.org/events.
Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS is a nonprofit organization that offers free workshops and outdoor programs supported by donations and grants. More information is available at netartsbaywebs.org or on social media at @netartsbaywebs.
