Meanwhile, similar changes may happen at a few Oregon coast parks run by Siuslaw National Forest.

Some overnight camping rates increased Wednesday at parks statewide. At Oregon’s 29 busiest parks, tent and RV sites now move to the top of the existing rate range from May 1 through September 30, and those peak rates will apply year-round on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. The top rate is $29 for tent sites and $52 for full hook-up RV sites.

Additional statewide increases include:

• Cabin and yurt rentals now priced at the top of their current ranges year-round, from $72 for rustic yurts to $129 for deluxe cabins and yurts

• Boat moorage fees rising from $15 to $20

• Overnight parking, overflow camping and primitive camping increasing from about $10 to at least $15 per night

The agency cites a projected 14 percent budget shortfall driven by rising operating costs, record visitation and a reduction in lottery revenue. Officials say the targeted increases, combined with internal cost-cutting and modernization efforts, are intended to maintain current service levels and keep the system stable.

Day-use parking fees expanded earlier this spring. As of April 1, 22 additional state parks now require a day-use permit. The fee is $10 for Oregon residents and $12 for out-of-state visitors and is valid for the entire day at any state park. Visitors arriving by foot, bicycle or public transit continue to enter for free. Drivers may show a current camping hangtag or an active 12- or 24-month parking permit, and those paying online or via QR code can link their license plates to verify payment.

On the other side of this coin, Lincoln City's D River access was charging for parking, but since the City of Lincoln City took it over those fees are no more. One of Oregon's Top Coastal Accesses Changes Hands: Lincoln City Takes Over D River Rec Site

Parking lots for some beach accesses began charging for the first time, including:

In Coos, Douglas, Lane and Tillamook counties, the Siuslaw National Forest is proposing changes to recreation fees at various Forest Service recreation sites there.

“Recreation fees support water system repairs, building maintenance, parking lot repaving, hazard tree removal, and additional staffing during holiday weekends and special events. At least 80% of recreation fees are retained by the local forest, promoting financially sustainable opportunities for future generations,” the agency said.

The public is invited to comment on the proposed recreation fee changes. The comment period is set to end by close of business on July 15, 2026. Comments can be submitted by postal mail or provided online through the story map.
