Community members are coming together on Saturday, July 5, to clean up debris left on the north Oregon coast following Fourth of July festivities. Hosted by Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS and Oceanside Action Partnership, the cleanup aims to protect local ecosystems by removing litter before it washes into the ocean.

From Cape Meares to Netarts, volunteers will work to clear the shoreline of discarded waste. Participants are invited to bring friends or family or connect with fellow volunteers to expand their community. The group will meet at The Schooner Restaurant at 9 a.m. before splitting into teams to cover as much ground as possible.

"Volunteers of all ages will find the beach cleanup fun, educational, and rewarding," said Marina Dreeben, WEBS Stewardship Coordinator.

As a thank-you, The Schooner Restaurant is offering volunteers a 10% discount on meals for the day.

Organizers remind participants to stay safe while exploring the coastline. Hazards such as floating logs, marine mammals, and strong tides can pose risks, so caution is advised. Anyone who encounters hazardous materials is urged to notify a staff member.

While advance registration is encouraged, walk-ins are welcome. To register or learn more about the event, visit Netarts Bay WEBS.

Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS strives to make nature-based events accessible to all by offering free educational programs led by experts. As a nonprofit, it relies on grants and donations to fund its workshops, classes, and outreach efforts.

Those interested in supporting the organization can visit its website to contribute to ongoing conservation initiatives. Every donation, no matter the size, helps sustain programs that protect Oregon's coastal environment.
