First of Oregon's Coastal Canine Classics Trots Into Florence in October

(Florence, Oregon) - Life's ruff…but events like this are not barking up the wrong tree when it comes to getting away from it all.

The inaugural Coastal Canine Classic trots into the Oregon coast town of Florence on October 16 - 18, with a full weekend of dog-focused fun, activities, and coastal charm. From friendly competitions, demonstrations, family-friendly entertainment like movies and photo shoots, fashion shows, and opportunities to celebrate our four-legged companions, this brand-new event is sure to become a favorite tail-wagging tradition.

There's no fancy-waggy pedigrees. The new event is designed as a lighthearted celebration rather than a formal dog show. Organizers say the three-day festival will highlight agility, costumes, demonstrations, movies, and family fun - no polished prance required. The goal is simple: give dogs their day and give their humans a memorable coastal getaway.

Agility events will take place at the Florence Events Center, where dogs can navigate a playful course and compete for prizes. Every participant receives treats and attention from volunteers.

A canine fashion show will add flair to the weekend, inviting costumed competitors to take the runway in categories ranging from superheroes to pirates to ballet dancers. Judges will award prizes for standout creativity and crowd appeal.

“Dress to impress and prepare for a dress-up contest that's simply fetching,” said organizers. “Fur, feathers, superheroes, pirates, ballet dancers - you never know who'll be unleashed next. Who's going to be known fur puttin' on the dog and looking like the cat's meow? It's the kind of competition that's off the chain in all the best ways. Canine competitors can strut, stroll, spin, or roll their way across the fashion runway. Prizes will be awarded in several categories.

Demonstrations from trainers and working dogs will round out the schedule, offering spectators a look at skilled routines and trick performances.

City Lights Cinema will host a “Yappy Hour at the Movies,” featuring screenings of The Secret Life of Pets and Best in Show, along with snacks, drinks, games, and raffle drawings between films.

General Admission: $15 per day per person
