(Cannon Beach, Oregon) – An integral part of north Oregon coast culture and vibes is entering middle age.
For 40 years now, the Cannon Beach Arts Association & Gallery has been helping to create and then bolster large parts of the arts scene in town, bringing about one of the more striking transformations of all the little burghs along the beach.
Thus, Cannon Beach Arts Association & Gallery will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a three-day series of events Nov. 12-14, highlighting the organization's history, local artists and continued support of the arts on the Oregon coast.
The shindig kickstarts Thursday, Nov. 12, with "An Artful History Talk" at 4:30 p.m. at the Coaster Theatre. Artists Jeffrey Hull and Jim Hannen will join author and historian Rainmar Bartl for a discussion featuring photographs, stories and memories that helped shape Cannon Beach's artistic community. The event is free and open to the public.

On Friday, Nov. 13, the Cannon Beach Gallery will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can browse the gallery's Miniature Art Exhibition featuring works by local and regional artists while enjoying cider and meeting volunteers and board members.

The weekend concludes Saturday, Nov. 14, with the association's 40th Anniversary Fundraiser & Celebration at Steidel Hall from 4 to 6 p.m. The event will feature light refreshments provided by The Bistro, wine and beer, a raffle and a silent auction. Organizers say the gathering is intended to recognize the artists, supporters and community members who have contributed to the association's four decades of service.
A minimum donation of $40 per person is requested for admission to the fundraiser, with proceeds supporting local and regional artists and future arts programming. Donations may be made online at cannonbeacharts.org, at the door, or at the Cannon Beach Gallery.

2019
Founded 40 years ago, the Cannon Beach Arts Association has served as a cornerstone of the community's creative culture, providing opportunities for artists and promoting the arts throughout the region. Organizers encourage both longtime supporters and first-time visitors to take part in the anniversary festivities.
"Here’s to 40 years behind us and an exciting, art-filled future ahead!," the group said.
