The city said emergency crews responded to a distress call Tuesday afternoon after two young adults were reported missing in the ocean in front of Seaside’s Turnaround.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:47 p.m. on September 16, when Seaside Police and Seaside Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the scene. Within minutes, a female was pulled from the ocean and it was clear she needed medical help.

“A female was pulled from the water and CPR initiated by a bystander with a medical background by 1:51 p.m.,” the city said. “Seaside Police and Fire personnel arrived shortly after and took over resuscitation efforts, during which the victim eventually regained a pulse.”

A second individual, a male, was also located and did not require medical attention.

By 2:17 p.m., the female patient was transported via Medix Ambulance to the Emergency Department at Providence Seaside Hospital. Officials stated that no further details will be released. The exact age and status of the pair will not be made public.

“The City of Seaside extends its gratitude to the brave first responders from both the Police and Fire Departments, as well as the dispatchers who manage emergency calls 24/7,” the city said.

Officials also reminded the public of the inherent risks posed by the Pacific Ocean, even under seemingly calm conditions.

The city said lifeguards are stationed along Seaside’s beach from Memorial Day through Labor Day to help ensure public safety during peak season. Visitors are urged to exercise caution when entering the water and to remain vigilant at all times. For safety tips and more information, visit SeasideFire.com/Beach-Safety .

On Monday, the central Oregon coast tragic accident unfolded at one of one of the region's most iconic yet perilous landmarks.

Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 3:36 p.m. following reports that a person had fallen into the ocean at Thor's Well just south of Yachats. The site has long been considered hazardous to visitors.

According to the Yachats Rural Fire Protection District (YRFPD), the individual appeared to be drowning when the 911 call was placed. Responders from YRFPD, the U.S. Coast Guard, Oregon State Police, and the Lincoln County Technical Rescue Team arrived on scene shortly thereafter.

The unnamed male was quickly determined to be deceased and responders spent the next two hours trying to recover the body. See Man Drowns at Central Oregon Coast's Thor's Well, Near Yachats - The man fell into the infamously dangerous watery hole and died
