(Lincoln City, Oregon) - The ocean is finally getting its say, and according to comedian-turned-marine biologist Forrest Shaw, it’s not thrilled with us.
Shaw brings his hit one-man show, THE OCEAN HATES YOU! to the central Oregon coast town of Lincoln City on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, at 7 p.m., delivering a fast, funny, and unexpectedly heartfelt blend of stand-up, science, and audience participation. It all happens at the Lincoln City Cultural Center – a raucous show that's part comedy special, part environmental wake-up call, and entirely unlike anything else on the touring circuit.
Before Shaw hit festivals like Netflix Is A Joke, Just For Laughs Montreal, and Moontower, he spent more than ten years working inside Florida’s coastal ecosystems. He ran Miami-Dade County’s Manatee Protection Program, monitored coral reefs and seagrass beds, and worked hands-on with sea turtles and coastal restoration projects.
Now he’s turned all that fieldwork into punchlines, bringing it “home” to the Oregon coast, so to speak.

The show dives into pollution, plastics, overfishing, climate change, and the bizarre ways humans keep sabotaging the ocean. Shaw’s delivery is sharp, darkly funny, and grounded in real science, but beneath the jokes is a message about perspective and hope - a reminder that the ocean isn’t just scenery, especially in a place like Lincoln City.
LCCC Program Director Jason Corso said he knew Shaw was the real deal the moment he saw him open for Jim Jefferies in Portland. “When I heard he was developing a comedy show about ocean conservation, it felt like the perfect fit for Lincoln City,” Corso said.
For a community shaped by the Pacific- from fishing and surfing to art, tourism, and local identity - Shaw’s mix of humor and environmental awareness hits close to home. *THE OCEAN HATES YOU!* isn’t just entertainment; it’s a nudge toward protecting the coastline that defines the region.
Shaw’s TV credits include Conan, Live at Gotham, and Jim Jefferies and Friends. His debut special, Poor Decisions, streams on Amazon.

Funny, pointed, and surprisingly moving, THE OCEAN HATES YOU! shows how comedy can double as “artivism,” sparking conversation and connection while keeping audiences laughing.
