Circles in the Sand, the acclaimed sand-scraping art experience that draws thousands to the shores of Bandon each year, has officially released its 2026 schedule. The event is known for its intricate sand labyrinths and tranquil atmosphere, and it continues to be a beloved tradition of the southern Oregon coast.

This time around, they return to the sands a bit earlier, starting in April and then going all summer.

Founded in 2010 by local artist Denny Dyke, Circles in the Sand began as a personal creative outlet and has since grown into a nationally recognized attraction. He's even wound up on network TV. By 2015, Dyke had transformed the project into a full-fledged enterprise, complete with branded merchandise and a dedicated calendar of events. Today, it’s supported by a team of beach artists and volunteers who help bring the ephemeral “dreamfields” to life, now even stretching into happenings in Florence.

The event is staged at Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint, where the labyrinths are drawn directly into the sand at low tide. Sessions typically begin at 9 or 10 a.m., with the artwork completed and ready for walking at the posted time. Designs are crafted roughly two hours prior, meaning a listed 8 a.m. walk begins with artists on the beach by 6 a.m. The walkable window lasts about two hours, though tidal conditions ultimately determine how long the paths remain intact.

This year's schedule:

There are usually shuttles between different areas of Bandon and the event site. That is announced fairly close to the event itself and is unknown at this time.

After a brief hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, Circles in the Sand returned in full force and has since expanded to Florence, further cementing its place as a regional favorite. Despite its growing popularity - always stretching the limits of local parking - the event retains its calming, meditative spirit.

Organizers recommend visitors spend at least 20 minutes exploring the labyrinths to fully absorb the peaceful ambiance and artistry. The experience is designed to be immersive, encouraging beach walkers to slow down and connect with the natural beauty of Oregon’s coastline.
