(Lincoln City, Oregon) – Everyone (and maybe their dog) will have plenty to look up to at the 2026 Lincoln City Summer Kite Festival next month. It's this part of the Oregon coast where giant octopus kites, whale designs and fast-moving Rokkaku fliers will fill the sky in bright colors, riding the winds and making gigantic movements. This time around it happens on June 27 – 28: but with a hefty change. It's moved from the D River to Chinook Winds Resort.

“Traditionally, held on the beach at the D River State Recreation Site, the 2026 Summer Kite Festival will be held at Chinook Winds Casino Resort,” said Explore Lincoln City. “This temporary change in location is due to the planned construction of the new Lincoln City Welcome Center at the D River State Recreation Site. Explore Lincoln City is thrilled to partner with Chinook Winds Casino Resort as we look to continue the long-standing tradition of the Summer Kite Festival in Lincoln City.”
The new Lincoln City Welcome Center is coming to the D River access after the city took it over.
Summer Kite Festival Schedule - Saturday and Sunday
10:00 a.m. - Opening announcements and performance
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. - Free kite-making workshop with Family Promise of Lincoln County

All-day activities include Pixie Fest carnival games benefiting the Kiwanis Club of Lincoln City, a walk-through Wind Garden, large show kites over the festival grounds and an art kite display. A special kite flier memorial will be held Sunday from 11:00 to 11:15 a.m.
The schedule may change due to weather or other factors.
Regarding pets: Leashed dogs are welcome at the festival, and visitors are asked to clean up after their pets. All service animals are permitted throughout the event, including on shuttle services. Personal kites cannot be flown during festival programming, but visitors may fly their own kites elsewhere along the beach.
Looking for food stuffs? Bristo’s Place Food Truck will be on site serving hot dogs, burgers, Indian tacos and other menu items. Scout Northwest Trading Company will also be present with festival-branded gear available for purchase.

Also coming up:
June 1- 12, 2026: Marie Lamfrom - 130 floats. It honors a major philanthropist from the central Oregon coast. Those Marie Lamfrom glass floats that you find can be registered through the Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation Birthday Project. Each registered float helps support Oregon nonprofit teams by providing invitations for rest, recreation and community as part of the foundation’s annual giving initiative.
