The Lincoln Pops Big Band will serenade this Valentine’s Day with Louis, Cole, Glenn and Duke -- Louis Prima, Cole Porter, Glenn Miller and Duke Ellington, and many more of your Big Band favorites

“If It’s Been A Long, Long Time since you said 'Let’s Dance, we’ve got you covered,” said the center's spokesman, Nikki Price. “The floor will be open, but a partner is not required. You’re free to just sit back and tap your toes through three sets of great music.”

Tickets are $20 per person (plus a $2 ticketing fee), and include cookies, sweet treats and a flower for every lady.

The annual Sweetheart Dance is aimed at raising funds for the center’s Piano Fund. The event will feature a raffle and other opportunities to support the nonprofit Oregon coast organization. Advance tickets can be purchased by calling 541-994-9994 or visiting lincolncity-culturalcenter.org.

The highlight of the evening will be three sets performed by the Lincoln Pops Big Band, a group of central Oregon coast musicians dedicated to preserving the heritage of the Big Band era. The ensemble, composed of 18-21 musicians including current and retired professionals, band directors, former high school and college players, and talented local high school students, brings a diverse sound with trumpets, trombones, clarinet, piano, drums, guitar, and vibraphone, along with a rotating cast of vocalists.

Having been a cornerstone of Lincoln County’s musical scene for over 30 years, the Lincoln Pops Big Band is renowned as one of Oregon's finest big bands. Under the artistic direction of Matt White, the band plays a variety of dance music genres, including swing, Latin, and jazz tunes. They also hold a regular performance on the third Thursday of each month at the Gleneden Beach Community Hall.
