Once again, registration is now open for the annual Oregon Spring Cleanup – and they need you. Held in partnership with Portland General Electric, SOLVE is expanding its largest spring volunteer effort to run throughout the entire, turning Earth Month into a coordinated, statewide push for cleaner communities across Oregon and Southwest Washington.

It happens from Portland to Pendleton, from Brookings to areas near Brooks, Cannon Beach to Cottage Grove and well beyond. solve.org/oregon-spring

The Oregon Spring Cleanup is SOLVE’s signature spring initiative, brings individuals, families, schools, businesses, and community groups into projects that support beaches, neighborhoods, parks, natural areas, and waterways. They need plenty of help this year. This ranges from litter cleanups to habitat restoration, including native plantings, invasive species removal, and mulching.

Back in April 2025, SOLVE told Oregon Coast Beach Connection, the initiative supported 214 projects, mobilized nearly 4,500 volunteers, removed more than 26,000 pounds of trash, and cleared over 22 acres of invasive species.

There have been some 65 events open for registration, and volunteers can now sign up for projects scheduled throughout April. SOLVE is aiming for more than 200 projects this year and continues to recruit new event leaders to expand participation. Extending the initiative to a full month allows more communities to take part in Earth Month activities and increases access for volunteers.

“Earth Month is a powerful reminder that local action drives meaningful environmental impact,” said Kregg Arntson, Director of Community Impact at Portland General Electric. “Through our partnership with SOLVE, PGE deepens its commitment to helping Oregon’s vibrant communities become climate-resilient communities.”

On top of all this, SOLVE is actively seeking additional event leaders to host cleanup or restoration projects. Both returning and first-time hosts receive planning support, free supplies, disposal assistance, and volunteer recruitment tools. Hosting a project can be as simple as identifying a site in need and completing the new-leader orientation at volunteer.solve.org/orientation.

How to Get Involved

– Volunteer: Browse the event calendar and register at volunteer.solve.org/oregon-spring
– Lead a project: SOLVE provides supplies, planning resources, and disposal funds
– Encourage participation: Invite schools, workplaces, and community groups to join Earth Month efforts

The Oregon Spring Cleanup 2026 is supported by Portland General Electric and additional partners including Clean Water Services, Fred Meyer, Metro, Oregon State Parks and Recreation, The Standard, AAA Oregon/Idaho, Intel, Kaiser Permanente, KOIN 6, LAM Research, Lithia & Driveway, the National Recreation and Park Association, and PepsiCo.

More information and registration details are available at solve.org/oregon-spring.

On the Central Oregon coast, there is the Moolack Beach Highway 101 Cleanup, a cleanup effort along Highway 101 set for Saturday, April 4. The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon, with participants encouraged to register in advance or sign up at the check-in table on site.

The cleanup is held in partnership with the Oregon Hang Gliders Association and will take place rain or shine. Volunteers will focus on removing trash from a stretch of Highway 101 north of Newport, beginning at the Moolack Beach parking area, where check-in and supplies will be available.

Participants are asked to dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. Surfrider will provide bags, single-use gloves, grabbers, and high-visibility vests.

Organizers say highway cleanups consistently produce more debris than most beach cleanups, making volunteer help especially important for this effort. See https://volunteer.surfrider.org/opportunities/R9yxzvFX41
