(Astoria, Oregon) - More fun with traffic is on the way to the north Oregon coast. Everyone's favorite road aggravation in the area is the New Youngs Bay Bridge, and there's another work project coming up. (Photo ODOT)
Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) said travelers should expect overnight closures on the U.S. 101 New Youngs Bay Bridge near Astoria from June 2 to 4 as crews conduct inspection work.
The bridge, located near milepost 4.91, will close each night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday. During those hours, traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 101B via the Old Youngs Bay Bridge and the Lewis and Clark River Bridge. Message boards will provide advance notice of the closure and detour route.
Drivers should prepare for delays and heavier traffic on the detour. Bridge crews will oversee the nightly shutdown and inspection activities.
Officials urge travelers to plan ahead, use caution in the area, and check TripCheck for updated road and traffic conditions.
Also still going on the south Oregon coast is the Oregon 42: U.S.101 to Cedar Point Road project. It's now in construction phase. This project repaves seven miles of Oregon 42 west of Coquille, repair seven bridges, replace two dozen culverts, and add a center turn lane and rumble strips.

“Drivers should watch for a traffic pattern change along Oregon 42 between Green Acres Lane and Fernwood Road (milepost 3.3-7.3), where a new continuous center turn lane has been created,” said ODOT.

Newport Hotel Review: We loved our stay at The Inn at Nye Beach! We booked the one-bedroom family suite, which was perfect for our little family. Our daughter had her own separate room, and we appreciated having a small table to eat breakfast or enjoy dinner at. The in-room fridge and French press coffee were thoughtful touches.
