More Lincoln County fire agencies mobilized Monday morning after the Oregon State Fire Marshal requested additional support for the Brewer Fire burning east of Madras. The Lincoln County Fire Defense Board activated Task Force 22, which left the county at 11 a.m. and would reach the staging area in Prineville around 5 p.m.

There are currently 71 wildfires burning in the state as of Tuesday.

Task Force 22 includes units from Columbia, Lincoln, Linn and Tillamook counties, along with an Engine Boss from Newport Fire Department. The assignment is led by Task Force Leader Rob Dahlman of North Lincoln Fire Rescue.

– North Lincoln Fire (Lincoln Co.) – B12, Type 6 engine
– Yachats Fire (Lincoln Co.) – B82, Type 6 engine
– Nestucca Fire (Tillamook Co.) – B87, Type 6 engine
– Vernonia Fire (Columbia Co.) – HB451, Type 3 engine
– Albany Fire (Linn Co.) – WT15, water tender
– North Lincoln Fire (Lincoln Co.) – C-1, Task Force Leader

The Brewer Fire, which started July 15, is one of numerous large wildfires burning across Oregon. It is estimated at 24,480 acres with structures threatened in Crook and Jefferson counties. Crews are facing hot, dry conditions and the possibility of thunderstorms later in the week. The deployment may last up to 14 days depending on fire activity and operational needs.

This marks the third time this season that Lincoln County resources have been requested by the Oregon State Fire Marshal. Local officials said the continued willingness of firefighters to deploy reflects the strength of Oregon’s mutual-aid system and the long tradition of agencies supporting one another during major incidents.

The Fire Defense Board urged residents to remain cautious as fire danger increases. Outdoor debris burning remains prohibited throughout Lincoln County, and officials asked the public to avoid activities that could spark new fires, including careless disposal of smoking materials and the use of equipment that generates heat or sparks during the hottest parts of the day.

“We ask you to keep the individuals and families impacted by these fires, along with the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel, and all incident support staff working under challenging conditions, in your thoughts as suppression efforts continue,” Depoe Bay Fire District Chief Tom Jackson said.
