The North Lincoln County Historical Museum will host Oregon Coast Home Movie Day 2025 on Saturday, October 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, offering a hands-on celebration of vintage film formats and personal history.

Home Movie Day is a global initiative that invites communities to explore and preserve their family films. Attendees can bring 8mm, Super 8mm, and 16mm reels for inspection and minor repairs by professional archivists. Experts will be on hand to offer guidance on film preservation and digitization, while selected submissions will be screened during the event. Museum staff will also present archival footage from their own collection, including scenes of Lincoln City and other Oregon Coast locations from the 1950s and 1960s.

Film submissions are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. To guarantee a screening slot, participants may drop off their reels in advance at the museum, located at 4907 SW Highway 101 in Lincoln City, Wednesday through Saturday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Those with VHS, Hi8, MiniDV, or other media formats are encouraged to contact the museum ahead of time to arrange inspection and possible inclusion.
