Last of Lincoln City Outdoors Events at Oregon Coast's Cascade Head, Tidepools

Along the shorelines of the Pacific, the outdoors events still rule - at least for a bit.

Cascade Head’s final round of 2026 Biosphere programs arrives this month on the central Oregon coast, with the last guided Explorience walk, the closing Salmon River Estuary boat tours, and the season’s final Beach Ambassador tidepool days all scheduled around Lincoln City.

Cascade Head Biosphere Explorience - Final Walk
The final Cascade Head Biosphere Explorience of the year takes place Saturday, September 19 at 10:30 a.m., beginning at Knight Park, 2341 North 3 Rocks Road in Otis.

“Join us for a 90-minute walking tour guiding visitors through Oregon's only UNESCO Biosphere Region, providing a 10,000 year snap-shot of the natural history of this remarkable place where land meets the sea,” organizers said.

It highlights the local flora and fauna, the geology of the Salmon River estuary, conservation work underway in the region, and the history of the Nechesne peoples.

The event is free and does not require registration. Organizers note that coastal weather can shift quickly; updates will be posted on Explore Lincoln City’s website and Facebook page if conditions force changes.

Knight Park sits at the mouth of the Salmon River Estuary and next to the Cascade Head Nature Conservancy trail. Facilities include vault restrooms, a public boat ramp, single-car parking and boat-trailer parking.

Visitors are encouraged to bring sturdy footwear, water, sunscreen and a light jacket. Portions of the route include off-trail areas with wet or uneven surfaces. Because part of the Biosphere Region is a protected wildlife sanctuary, dogs, bicycles, fires, camping, hunting and removal of foliage are prohibited.

Final Salmon River Estuary Tours

The last Salmon River Estuary Tours of the season run Saturday, September 12, with departures at noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets are $39 for adults and $19 for youth.

Tours leave from Knight Park aboard a 22-passenger U.S. Coast Guard-certified pontoon boat for a 45-minute guided trip through the lower estuary. Guides will share bundles of information on Indigenous history, local geology and the Cascade Head Biosphere Region. Plus, dig into the wildlife that depends on the tidal ecosystem, with a focus on salmon returning to the river.

Final Biosphere Beach Ambassador Days
Parting is such sweet sorrow, as the classic writer once put it, and the Bard undoubtedly would've missed those guided tours of the central Oregon coast's tidal zones.

The season’s last Biosphere Beach Ambassador Days take place at the NW 15th Street beach access in Lincoln City. Interpreters will be stationed near the tidepools one hour before and after low tide.
