Denmark is a quiet and tiny rural community on the south coast, surrounded by rolling hills, patches of pastures amid the greens, small farms and sometime thickly-wooded hills. Set a bit inland along Highway 101, it's not far from Langlois and closing in on Bandon, just about at MP 290). Just about the last bit of Curry County you'll see if you're heading north, conversely it's almost your first encounter with what is known as the Wild Rivers Coast.

It's really just a set of homes, buildings and a bridge. Even driving through there it's impossible to tell where Denmark begins and ends. The signs in both lanes saying “Entering Denmark” are essentially in the same spot.

This, if you're a physics nerd, gives the strange impression it occupies a distinct two-dimensional plane separate from our three-dimensional universe.

All String Theory science kidding aside, Denmark has no formal town center. Instead, the pastoral place serves as a delightful encounter with a landscape shaped by creeks, meadows, and the proximity of the Coast Range, with a sense of open space that contrasts with the more rugged shoreline just a few miles west.

Denmark serves as a gateway to several coastal access points and natural features, offering a peaceful pause between south coast destinations like Langlois and Port Orford. Blink and you'll miss it. Which is OK, in the end. 'Cause you should be ogling the scenery, anyway.

Close by is the entrance to Floras Lake, Boice Cope Park + Blacklock Point trail
