(Seaside, Oregon) – Every month, a new chapter in Oregon coast history gets churned up and brought to light. This month, Seaside Museum will host its next History & Hops program on Thursday, February 26, featuring a look how we all got around in the U.S. during the last century.
This month’s presentation, titled “A Driven History: The Story of Horse-Drawn Transportation in America,” features Jerry Bowman, curator of the Northwest Carriage Museum. Bowman is widely known for his lively and informative talks on the history, restoration, and conservation of 19th-century horse-drawn vehicles. Over more than twenty years, he has restored more than forty carriages, buggies, sleighs, wagons, and numerous period artifacts, earning a national reputation for his expertise and engaging storytelling.
It happens at 6 p.m. at Seaside Brewing Co., part of the museum's monthly series of local and regional Oregon coast history talks held from September through May. The event is free and open to the public.

Bowman
During the program, Bowman will discuss the evolution of horse-drawn vehicles in the United States and share behind-the-scenes stories from the museum’s collection. Photos and videos will highlight the craftsmanship and character of the vehicles, along with the colorful histories of the people who once used them.
The Northwest Carriage Museum, located in Raymond, Washington, houses one of the largest and finest collections of 19th-century horse-drawn vehicles in North America. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features sixty-five restored vehicles and thousands of related artifacts.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure seating and enjoy the menu at Seaside Brewing Co. The History & Hops series is supported by the Seaside Museum, the Seaside Public Library, and Seaside Brewing Co.
