(Florence, Oregon) – Thrilling, chilling and full of spooky stuff: now is the time of year for a kind of resurrection in one central Oregon coast town.
Florence – known for its rhododendrons and cajoling beaches – plays host to the Haunted Maze in about a week. C.R.O.W. (Children’s Repertory of Oregon Workshops) brings back its award-winning Haunted Maze this October with a new spine-chilling installment titled “Abandoned.” The immersive experience will run for five nights only - October 24, 25, 29, 30, and 31 - from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Florence Events Center, 715 Quince Street.
Voted the “#1 Haunted Attraction in Oregon” by Oregon Haunted Houses in both 2018 and 2024, the Scare-C.R.O.W. Haunted Maze has become a regional draw, attracting over 1,000 visitors annually from across the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
This year’s storyline centers on the fictional Theatre Macabre, a once-glamorous venue from 1926 now left to rot. Visitors will encounter the ghost of Evelyn Corvid, a young actress whose unsolved murder haunts the decaying halls. The maze is designed to evoke the eerie glamour of a bygone era, with elaborate sets and frightful surprises crafted by Artistic Director Melanie Heard and co-designer Tina Ferkey.

“Our Haunted Maze gets spookier and scarier, year after year!” said Heard. “This year’s 1920’s abandoned theater theme opens up some really ghoulishly delightful scare opportunities.”
This year, Heard is co-designing the maze with multi-talented Ferkey, who has created several past props and set pieces for C.R.O.W.
“The whole Ferkey family is incredible,” says Heard. “They can create just about anything, including the giant crow you may have seen ‘flying’ down 101 in the 2025 Rhody Parade.”
A special “Less Scary Hour” will be offered on Saturday, October 25, from 5 to 6 p.m., catering to younger children and those seeking a milder experience in this spooky Oregon coast stalwart. The maze reverts to full intensity at 6 p.m. Recommended minimum age for regular entry is 8 and up, with parental discretion advised. The venue is fully ADA accessible and includes restrooms, concessions, a boutique, and photo ops.

Admission is $12 per person, $18 for a fast pass, or $44 for a group of four (same-night use only). Tickets are available at the door via cash or credit card.
Proceeds benefit C.R.O.W.’s nonprofit arts programming, including youth theater productions, dance classes, workshops, and seasonal showcases such as the upcoming “Seussical” in spring 2026 and the annual “Holly Jolly Follies” holiday variety show.
