(Cannon Beach, Oregon) – Wasn't it Shakespeare who said “Cry Christmas and let slip the holiday cheer?”
No?
Well, it's getting said now, and it's about the north Oregon coast village of Cannon Beach. Look for plenty of action there.
Cannon Beach kicks off the holiday season this November with Haystack Holidays, a festive lineup that turns the town into a coastal winter wonderland. The month-long celebration brings theater, shopping events, hands-on workshops, and classic community traditions that make Cannon Beach one of Oregon’s most charming holiday destinations.
The Wizard of Oz at Coaster Theatre Playhouse - Nov. 20 to Dec. 20
The yellow brick road leads straight to Cannon Beach as Coaster Theatre presents a musical adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s timeless tale, complete with the iconic score from the MGM film. Dorothy’s journey from Kansas to Oz continues to enchant audiences of all ages (both in the temporal sense and the biological sense). Tickets are available online, at the box office, or by calling 503-436-1242.
Mimosa Madness Weekend - Nov. 27 to 29
Plaid Friday and Small Business Saturday get a Cannon Beach twist with Mimosa Madness, where downtown shops offer extended hours, seasonal sales, and festive drinks. It’s a fun and funky way to support local businesses while soaking in the holiday atmosphere.

Wreath-Making Workshops - Nov. 28 (11 a.m.-3 p.m.), Dec. 3 (5-8 p.m.), Dec. 5 (11 a.m.-3 p.m.)
Steidel Community Hall becomes a creative hub as the Chamber hosts its annual wreath-making sessions. Holiday music, cookies, and warm drinks set the vibes while participants craft their own wreaths. Cost is $25 per wreath, with discounts for recycled rings. Walk-ins welcome.
Cannon Beach in Lights - Dec. 1 to 31
The town glows all month long as businesses compete for the best holiday light display. Visitors can stroll through Cannon Beach, enjoy the illuminated storefronts, and vote for their favorite. Voting closes December 31, with winners announced the next day.

“Name That Tune” Window Display Contest - Nov. 28 to Dec. 20
Pick up a playing card at the Information Center and tour local shops to match each window display with its holiday tune. Completed cards returned to the Chamber are entered to win a gift basket filled with local products. Winner announced December 21.
Tolovana Arts Colony Holiday Bazaar - Opening Reception Dec. 4; Open Dec. 5-6 and 12-13
Past bazaars have featured food, drinks, and an impressive spread of handmade goods from local artists - jewelry, housewares, fine art, clothing, beauty items, snacks, and more. Many pieces are one-of-a-kind and tend to sell quickly. Purchases support local creators during a crucial time of year.

Salty Raven Holiday Party with Santa - Nov. 29, 2-4 p.m.
A new Oregon coast event staple. Previous years have included photos with Santa, bubbly drinks, and a chance to win a “Salty Basket” packed with limited-edition merchandise valued at over $150. A cozy, spirited gathering for families and fans of the shop.
Cannon Beach Library Holiday Tea - Dec. 5
No actual info has been released on the current, upcoming event, but traditionally, the library hosts an afternoon of mulled cider, tea, homemade cookies, and holiday décor by the fireplace. Guests can browse handmade crafts and enjoy the annual quilt raffle drawing.
Lamp Lighting Ceremony - Dec. 5, 4 p.m.
Sandpiper Square hosts one of Cannon Beach’s most beloved traditions. The ceremony features music, performances, a visit from Santa, and the official lighting of the holiday lamp. Free to the public. For details, call 503-436-2623.
Operation Candy Cane - Dec. 11 & 12
The Cannon Beach Fire Department teams up with Santa to collect donations of non-perishable food throughout town, beginning at 6 p.m.
Caroling Downtown Cannon Beach - Dec. 20, 4:30 p.m.
The community gathers at the Chamber for an evening of caroling through downtown. Song sheets are provided in English and Spanish, followed by warm beverages at Steidel Community Hall.
