Now in its eighth year, the open house showcases sometimes dozens of vintage trailers, many restored to gleaming perfection while others remain charmingly mid-renovation. Owners from across the western U.S. - including Montana, California, Washington, Idaho, and Oregon - will be on hand to share stories and insights into the preservation of these nostalgic travel icons.

“This is about celebrating the spirit of camping and the artistry of restoration,” said organizer Terry Hankins. “These happy campers are surely to be staged to greet you in style.”

Adding to the retro flair, Florence’s Rhody Cruisers classic car club will cruise through the park around noon, pairing each vintage vehicle with a trailer for a full-spectrum throwback experience. It brings in a distinctive Florence flavor.

The event’s setting at Heceta Beach RV Park underscores Florence and its natural side. But there's a quirky slant to this part of the central Oregon coast: its reputation as a haven for antiquing, thrifting, and weekend getaways. “Florence is a super town for treasure hunting,” Hankins added. “It’s the perfect place to play and explore.”

Terry and her husband, Dan Hankins, have organized the event for years. The couple owns several classic trailers, including three Airstreams and a 1960s Streamline. Dan also operates Exploding Whale Beach Camp, offering vintage trailer stays via Airbnb as a unique alternative to traditional lodging.

For more information, contact Heceta Beach RV Park at (541) 997-7664 or reach out to Terry Hankins directly at (760) 644-5432.
