S. Oregon Coast Deputies Pull Over Golf Cart on Road, Discover Warrant

The tiny burgh of Barview (yes, there are two of them on the coast), was the scene of something most other motorists hadn't encountered before, either.

According to the Coos County Sheriff's Office, one of their deputies stopped a purple-and-pink golf cart Friday afternoon after spotting it traveling west on Libby Lane near Crown Point Road.

The stop occurred at 3:53 p.m. on September 4.

The driver, identified as 72-year-old Rennie Strebendt, told the deputy she was headed to Charleston. Dispatch later advised that Strebendt had an active warrant out of Florence.

She was taken into custody and transported to the Coos County Jail on the outstanding warrant.

Barview is just on the outskirts of Charleston and south of Coos Bay.

The north Oregon coast Barview is directly north of Garibaldi.
