(Coos Bay, Oregon) – Beginning tomorrow (May 22), United Airlines begins flights between Colorado and the south Oregon coast. They continue over the summer until October 29.
This direct route enhances accessibility for travelers eager to experience Oregon’s Adventure Coast - an area renowned for its stunning coastal landscapes, vibrant outdoor activities, and welcoming communities. It creates instant access to regions north and south of here, including Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor, Bandon, Gold Beach, Port Orford, Reedsport and the lengthy expanse of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.
Additionally, the influx of visitors is expected to benefit local economies in Coos Bay, North Bend, and Charleston.
“This section of the Oregon Coast offers a wealth of experiences, from dramatic cliffs and rolling sand dunes to world-class outdoor recreation, including fishing, golfing, mountain biking, hiking, and more,” said Janice Langlinais, Executive Director of the Coos Bay-North Bend-Charleston Visitor and Convention Bureau. “It’s not only a great opportunity for travelers but also a welcome boost for our local businesses, who will see increased patronage at restaurants, shops, and attractions.”
The new service also improves convenience for local residents and commuters. In 2024, over 6,000 passengers traveled between OTH and DIA, according to the Coos County Airport District.

Operated by SkyWest under the United Express brand, the three-hour flights eliminate the need for a layover in San Francisco, streamlining travel for visitors heading from Denver to Oregon’s Adventure Coast. Previously, direct flights between DIA and OTH were available only twice a week between May and October, with connecting routes requiring a stop in San Francisco.
There are currently daily flights into OTH from San Francisco as well, for those wishing to connect from other parts of the country.

Langlinais highlighted the benefits of this direct access, noting that visitors can now easily reach the coast’s diverse offerings, including spectacular natural landscapes, abundant outdoor adventures, scenic coastal drives, and charming coastal communities. Oregon’s Adventure Coast is home to towering coastal cliffs, powerful Pacific waves, miles of sandy beaches, and lush forests. The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area spans 31,500 acres and features expansive dune formations, lakes, rivers, and bays.

Travelers can engage in a variety of outdoor activities, from crabbing on the docks and casting for surfperch to mountain biking Whiskey Run trails, cruising sand dunes, forest hiking, and golfing at Bandon Dunes. Scenic coastal drives along Highway 101 showcase historic lighthouses, breathtaking ocean views, wildlife refuges, and picturesque state parks. Meanwhile, the towns of Coos Bay, North Bend, and Charleston offer fresh seafood, farm-to-table dining, craft breweries, artisan shops, museums, and local entertainment.
The new flights from Denver to Oregon’s Adventure Coast will depart daily at 11:15 a.m., and tickets are now available for booking through United Airlines and reputable travel sites.
