One tiny part of it, however, is making a special plea to come and help.

September 19 will bring another community cleanup to the Netarts-Oceanside shoreline as Friends of Netarts Bay Watershed, Estuary, Beach, and Sea (WEBS) staff and volunteers gather for an afternoon's effort stretching from Cape Lookout State Park to Cape Meares.

WEBS has partnered with SOLVE for decades to support volunteer-driven stewardship along Oregon’s coast. Organizers say fall is an ideal time to restore beaches after a busy summer season of heavy use by visitors and residents.

“Clean up the beach with friends or family, or expand your community by teaming up with fellow volunteers. Volunteers of all ages will find the beach cleanup fun, educational, and rewarding,” said Marina Dreeben, WEBS Stewardship Coordinator.

Volunteers will meet at the Schooner Restaurant at 12 p.m. for check-in and to pick up buckets, gloves and trash grabbers. Participants who already have cleanup supplies are encouraged to bring them. The Schooner Restaurant and Lounge is offering volunteers a 10 percent dinner discount the evening of the event.

Organizers remind participants to stay alert while exploring the shoreline.

“As you head out to clean up or just explore, it is important to remember that ocean shores can be dangerous,” they said in a press release. “Avoid logs in the water, keep your distance from marine mammals, and never turn your back on the ocean! If you find any hazardous material, please alert a staff member.”

The Oceanside and Netarts area still some of the more unspoiled areas of the Oregon coast, and still somewhat off-the-beaten path. It consists of the tiny of Oceanside itself, stretching a little over a mile of sandy shore and cliff to the little bay at Netarts and the even tinier village of Happy Camp.

Advance registration is encouraged but not required. Details and sign-ups are available at http://www.netartsbaywebs.org/events. Questions can be directed to info@netartsbaywebs.org.

Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS continues to offer free, expert-led nature programs to reduce financial barriers to outdoor recreation. Donations support the organization’s ability to keep events accessible to all.

Visitors often rate this charming at the top because of its ocean views, quiet surroundings (with only beach sounds) and the way it partners with eco-friendly causes.

A fantastic stay in the coastal woods. A bit of a drive to the beach but absolutely worth every second - and it's still quite the scenic road. Weather a little nicer out here than the beach. Nehalem Hotel Review
