Or maybe it is. In fact, the central Oregon coast burgh has a new take on the whole idea of a disco party: a silent disco.

Newport Performing Arts Center (PAC) is set to transform into a high-energy, neon-lit dance floor at 7:00 pm on Saturday, January 10, 2026, as Oregon Coast Council for the Arts (OCCA) presents a revolutionary interactive social experience: the Silent Disco dance party.

It's also time to get a sneek preview at the Newport Seafood and Wine Festival 2026, coming up at the end of February.

A silent disco isn't just a party; it's the ultimate way to dance to your own beat-literally. Unlike a traditional concert where one sound fills the room, a silent disco puts the power of the playlist directly into the hands of the guests. Upon arrival, attendees will be handed a pair of high-fidelity wireless LED headphones. From there, the choice is theirs. Three live DJs - Estivel Martinez, Tyler Spencer, and Andres Antonio Hernandez - will perform simultaneously, each vying for the crowd's attention across three wireless channels.

The result is what organizers call a "party democracy." As dancers switch between channels, their headphones change color-glowing red, blue, or green-to signal which DJ they are currently vibing with. Spectators will witness a dance floor of "silent energy," where one group might be jumping to a heavy bass beat while their neighbors sway to a completely different rhythm.

One of the unique benefits of the silent disco format is its social flexibility.

“The setup also allows for easy conversation,” organizers said. “Guests can remove their headphones to take a break or chat without shouting over amplified sound, a feature that has helped silent discos grow in popularity at venues nationwide.”

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the PAC box office (777 W. Olive Street), by calling 541-265-ARTS, or online (additional fee applies). For more information, visit coastarts.org/events/silentdisco

Newport Seafood & Wine Fest Preview: 2026

The Newport Seafood & Wine Festival returns February 19 - 22, 2026, continuing a tradition that has drawn visitors to the Oregon coast since 1977. The four-day event will feature more than 50 Pacific Northwest wineries gathered under one tent, alongside seafood offerings from over 20 local chefs. More than 70 regional artisans will also be on site, and a dedicated music tent will offer festival-branded beer and live entertainment throughout the weekend. The annual Seafood Chowder competition is scheduled to take place during the festival.

Among the ticket options include the Ruby Wine Club pass, priced at $150 in advance and available online only. The pass provides one person with VIP entry for all four days, access to the VIP room, a swag bag with festival coupons, a commemorative wine glass, complimentary wine tastings, VIP restrooms, a Seafood Chowder tasting kit, and admission to the Thursday night VIP reception.

A three-day pass for Friday through Sunday is available for $75 in advance and includes a commemorative wine glass for one attendee.

New this year is a one-day VIP ticket, offered at $75 in advance or $100 at the door. The ticket grants VIP entry for Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, along with access to the VIP room, festival coupons, a commemorative wine glass, complimentary wine tastings, VIP restrooms, and a Seafood Chowder tasting kit. It does not include Thursday admission, the swag bag, or the Thursday night reception.

There are other ticket options. See: newportchamber.org/newport-seafood-wine-festival
