(Newport, Oregon) – You could say it's a “bloomin' big deal.”
Five years on now, Bloom Newport has taken root in town and it's ready to burst with color again. The sizable community festival is a mix of performances, food vendors, and family activities. It returns to the Newport Performing Arts Center on May 16, 2026, going from 3 to 7 p.m. The event is expected to draw residents and visitors for an afternoon centered on central Oregon coast culture, cuisine, and live entertainment.
Organizers describe this year’s event as the largest to date, with three stages operating simultaneously and a music lineup that spans folk, funk, Latin dance, and indie rock. The Main Stage opens at 3 p.m. with a Corvallis-based DJ set, followed by Newport’s Massive Delicious at 3:30 p.m. Ballet Folklorico Oregon Coast performs at 4:45 p.m., and Portland group Sweet N’ Juicy closes the stage at 5:30 p.m.

The Esplanade Stage features Newport band It Found Things at 4 p.m., Revel’n at 5 p.m., and Bend musician Jeshua Marshall at 6 p.m. The surrounding lawn will host games from Newport Parks & Recreation and children’s activities led by the Newport Public Library and the Oregon Coast Aquarium.

Inside the Alice Silverman Theatre, two choral groups perform at 3:45 and 4:30 p.m., followed by a solo set from Chet Udell at 5:15 p.m. The Oregon Coast Visitors Association will present a screening at 6 p.m.
The festival’s beer garden returns with craft beverages from Pelican Brewing, 2 Towns Cider, Beachcrest Brewing, Claim 52, Rusty Truck, Depoe Bay Winery, and Bier One Brewing. Alcohol service is restricted to ages 21 and older.

Food offerings include Tastee Tiki’s bowls and musubis; Bristo’s Place from Siletz; Subzero Swirlz’s Mexican snacks and drinks; BNF Kombucha & Jun; Dark Moon Doughnuts; Siren’s Lure Tea House and Bakery; Piquín y Chamoy; Local Ocean seafood; Erin Nicole Albacore Tuna sandwiches; Beloved Bakery’s sourdough goods; BayLee’s Pop Up soda bar; and Tea’s Candy with vegan and gluten-free sweets.
Admission is free. Additional details, vendor applications, and volunteer information are available at bloomnewport.org.
The event somewhat echoes the Nye Beach Clambake festivals that were held for awhile in the early 2000s, which was itself a revival of the "clambakes" held back in Nye Beach about 100 years ago.
